We’re excited to announce that Indigo Power’s next round of community batteries is now underway, marking a significant step forward in our journey.
Baranduda Community Battery
We’ve signed a lease agreement with North East Water to deliver our first community battery in the Wodonga local government area. The battery will be located in Baranduda and will operate as a standalone system. It will charge directly from solar energy exported by Indigo Power’s solar customers during the day, returning stored energy back to the community each evening.
This community battery will feature 120 kW inverter capacity with 448 kWh of energy storage. Civil works at the site have already begun, thanks to support from North East Water and Watters Electrical. We’re targeting the commissioning of this battery in August of this year.
This project has also received financial support through a grant from the Victorian Government’s 100 Neighbourhood Battery program.

Cricket Albury Wodonga Battery
We’re also delighted to announce funding approval for a second community battery in Wodonga, again through the Victorian Government’s 100 Neighbourhood Battery program.
This battery will be situated at the Cricket Albury Wodonga Indoor Stadium and will utilise Indigo Power’s existing 98 kW solar PV system onsite. The battery will have a 100 kW inverter capacity and provide 450 kWh of storage, offering low-cost electricity to Cricket Albury Wodonga. Additionally, it will continue to supply Patagonia Australia under an existing power purchase agreement.
ARENA Community Batteries for Energy Resilience
With the recent successful completion of our equity crowdfunding campaign and the signing of a loan agreement with BankWAW, Indigo Power is now fully equipped to begin rolling out our ARENA-funded Community Batteries for Energy Resilience Project. Over the coming months, we look forward to officially announcing the first two sites and are targeting the commissioning of these initial batteries by the end of 2025.
