The new year is well and truly underway, and our retail team has been busy relaunching our retail offer, welcoming customers and rolling out what’s next.
Thank you to the almost 500 customers who have already signed up. It’s been great to reconnect, and our phones have been busy with questions about pricing and options.
This update steps through the key pricing choices available. You can also quickly check your rates on our website, and if anything isn’t clear, our team is always happy to help by phone, email, or at our Beechworth office.
Two pricing options
Community Energy Hub Plan
Our original plan is designed to protect customers with stable pricing and less exposure to price volatility. If you don’t have much flexibility in when you use electricity, this plan may suit you best.
Energy Shapers Plan
This plan includes a large daytime credit, so you can benefit from low electricity prices during high solar production hours. If you can shift more of your electricity usage into the middle of the day, this plan may suit you.
Energy Shapers daytime credit
New South Wales (NSW) – Residential Solar Soak Credit (applies to imports during the solar soak period, between 10:00 am and 15:00 in most regions)
- Endeavour: 22.28 c/kWh
- Ausgrid: 18.23 c/kWh
- Essential Energy: 16.42 c/kWh
Victoria (VIC) – Residential Solar Soak Credit
- 16.92 c/kWh applied to electricity imported between 10am and 3pm, year-round.
For business customers, there’s also a large summer rebate that varies by region; up to 27 c/kWh in some areas.
Feed-in tariff (solar exports)
We’ve introduced a time-of-use feed-in tariff to reward exports at times when they’re most valuable. Time periods vary by region, but late afternoon and early evening exports generally attract the best rates.
NSW
- Endeavour: Peak 13.3 c/kWh, Shoulder 5.4 c/kWh, Off-peak 2.9 c/kWh
- Ausgrid: Peak 15.0 c/kWh, Shoulder 6.4 c/kWh, Off-peak 2.7 c/kWh
- Essential Energy: Peak 19.0 c/kWh, Shoulder 8.5 c/kWh, Off-peak 2.0 c/kWh
VIC (all regions)
- Peak 12.0 c/kWh, Shoulder 1.5 c/kWh, Off-peak 0.0 c/kWh
What’s coming next
Relaunching our retail business gives us a chance to make improvements, and we’ve already started.
- Community batteries backing retail supply: We’ve begun testing the Baranduda community battery as part of our energy supply mix, with new customers now partly backed by this battery. Once testing is complete, we’ll bring the rest of our community battery fleet across so it can back the retail offer almost straight away. We’re also progressing discussions with other community-owned renewable generators to add more community-owned energy into the mix.
- A rebuilt energy-sharing platform: We’re current setting up the framework to establish a new, reliable energy sharing system with expanded scope, moving from local hubs to sharing across our whole customer base.
- A product roadmap that supports electrification: We’ll keep innovating with offers that reward flexibility and local sharing, and make it easier to electrify homes and businesses.
- More in-house customer service: Basic customer service is currently handled by our partner, Next Business Energy. After we’re through the launch of our new offer, our focus is moving frontline support to our own Beechworth team so every time you call, you’re speaking directly with Indigo Power.
