Electric Vehicle Charging Station Yackandandah

On Sunday the 28th of August; Local volunteer community energy group TRY, (Totally Renewable Yackandandah), will be launching the 50kW DC electric vehicle charger – stationed at the public carpark at 16A Windham Street in Yackandandah.

TRY has been the catalyst and lead advocate for the Electric Vehicle Charging Station, partnering with YCDCo (Yackandandah Community Development Company), Indigo Shire and Indigo Power.

The project has been made possible following TRY’s success in obtaining $44,582 in funding from the Destination Charging Across Victoria (DCAV) Grant Program provided by the Victorian Government through the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP). The DCAV program has provided grants to 32 applicants who will install approximately 141 EV fast-charging stations within approximately 116 high-use areas and tourist spots across Victoria by July 2023.

It is further supported by contributions from TRY, YCDCo, Indigo Shore Council and Indigo Power.

This is the first publicly accessible EV fast-charger on Council land in the Indigo Shire and will be followed soon by another in Beechworth in partnership with Evie Networks, also supported through the DCAV program.
